It was finally time to head into the Castelia Gym. During training, I headed into the Battle Company and defeated everyone there. I had to do a TON of training, but by the end of it, Gong had evolved into a Boldore and Whistle evolved into a Golbat, then a Crobat. They're both extremely strong and I'm definitely going to rely on them for this Gym. I forgot to mention this, but during training, I also stopped at Route 4. I battled Breeder Irene plenty of times (she will challenge you any time you go on the route), but I also got my encounter there! I used Krookodile and Darmanitan last time, so my only options were Minccino and Scraggy. I REALLY dislike using Minccino in-game, but for some reason, Minccino is extremely common here, so that's what I got. I caught her and named her Flute. Her ability is pretty bad, so I don't plan on using her unless I have to. Anyways, I headed into the Castelia Gym. I LOVE the music and atmosphere here. Oddly enough, the Harlequins here have an encounter theme they didn't have in BW1, which is interesting, too. Eventually, I made it to the top and challenged Burgh. I expected Burgh to lead with his Swadloon, so I lead with Whistle. Unfortunately, he lead with Dwebble, instead, so I switched into Gong. Luckily, Dwebble just used Rock Polish (you would've outsped a Boldore anyways...). Dwebble went for a Struggle Bug, which did absolutely nothing, and one Rock Blast took Dwebble out. Next, Burgh sent out his Leavanny. Leavanny was perfect bait for Whistle and one Wing Attack decimated it, alongside the Karrablast Burgh sent out next. Finally, Burgh sent out his Shelmet. Oddly enough, Shelmet went for Curse, which was interesting, but Gong took it out with Rock Blast before it could do anything. That was definitely an extremely easy Gym Battle (compared to the last two) and my reward was the Insect Badge and TM Struggle Bug! However, I realized that a more challenging battle was coming up. I vaguely remember having to battle Colress now, but ALL SIX of my team members are bad against Steel Types. That's actually a trend I have anytime I play White 2, but hopefully Gong's Rock Smash will be good enough... I said goodbye to Castelia and met up with Colress at Route 4. Colress told me about his research and challenged me to a battle! I lead with Gong against his Magnemite. Magnemite's Magnet Bomb only did about 12 damage and Gong's Rock Smash was enough to defeat it with two hits. Things were definitely starting well. Next, Colress sent out his ace, Klink. Klink outsped and went for Gear Grind, which did a TON. One more Gear Grind would've killed Gong, but miraculously, Gong got a critical hit with Rock Smash, taking out the terrifying gears in one hit! That definitely could've ended badly, but Gong's great save in this battle, as well as in the Gym, made me decide to raise him to MVP status! He may be the newest member of the team, but I'm already extremely proud of him. Thank you for reading, feel free to leave a comment below!
*FYI, I won't evolve Gong until Lv. 30. That's just a personal rule I like to have for trade evolutions.
