Entry 14: Electric Feels...
3/24/2018
I headed through Route 6 and arrived at Chargestone Cave. My first encounter was a Boldore! After almost killing him with a Psybeam from Croissant (Sturdy saved him), I caught him. Boldore is probably the most boring encounter here, but I don't mind them.
Chargestone Cave is full of challenging trainers, so I navigated it very carefully. N warned me that Team Plasma was ahead, so that worried me, as well. I immediately ran into trouble when I battled Ace Trainer Jared. He used an Archen, while I lead with Bacon. I immediately switched into Porridge and Archen used Acrobatics, doing way over half. My only hope was to hopefully outspeed and get it under half. We were the same level and Watchog has a slightly higher base speed, but Porridge has a speed lowering nature. Porridge outsped and used Crunch, getting Archen under half! Archen used Agility, which was fine. I just had to hit one more time.
Archen went for Acrobatics. It did about 50 damage the first time, leaving Porridge with about 35, so I expected it to do 25 now, which Porridge could survive, since Archen's attack was halved. Clearly, I was wrong. Archen used Acrobatics and Porridge went down... I had to let Bacon defeat Archen. Acrobatics did way over half to Bacon, but Bacon took Archen out. If I had switched, Bacon would've been killed in two hits, since he wouldn't have outsped. Someone had to die and it looks like Porridge took that sacrifice. There was nothing I could do...
In all honesty, I'm really proud of Porridge. She completely exceeded my expectations for what a Watchog could ever do and I'm not disappointed in her at all. It's definitely sad to say goodbye to her, but I'm really proud of all her accomplishments. Now, Porridge is resting peacefully alongside Honey and Biscuit... Now I had to find a new wife for Bacon. I was down to Poptart, the Ducklett, and Cinnabon, the shiny Herdier, as I really wanted a Pokemon that could use Surf. I found out that Poptart doesn't evolve until Lv. 35, though, so I decided to go with Cinnabon.
I trained Cinnabon up to Lv. 31. She's already incredibly strong, but she'll be even better when she evolves. After defeating Scientist Naoko's Klink, Cinnabon reached Lv. 32 and evolved into a Stoutland! For the first time in forever, I have a Stoutland! Cinnabon is now rather bulky, she's fast, and she hits like a truck! Also, her colors are even more cool now.
I immediately ran into trouble when I went back into Chargestone Cave. I reached a series of Team Plasma Grunts and battled one with a Scraggy. Scraggy got Cheerio down to low health and I had to rely on Trix to take Scraggy's attacks and defeat it. Payback did a lot to Trix, but Trix managed to pull through and defeat Scraggy, surviving with just 16HP. She may not hit hard, but Trix definitely stands strong with her bulk.
Thankfully, I made it through the rest of the cave without incident. I reached the end, where N asked me about my dreams and challenged me to a battle. I decided to use Croissant and Omelette against his team of NFE Pokemon. His Pokemon stood no chance and I easily defeated him. After having an argument with Professor Juniper, N stormed off.
-I eventually arrived in Mistralton City. I quickly headed to the Move Reminder, where I taught Cinnabon Thunder Fang! That'll definitely be helpful against Skyla. Speaking of Skyla, I met up with Skyla and Cedric Juniper outside. Skyla told me that she wanted to battle, but she had to help a Pokemon at the Celestial Tower, first.
Other Notes:
-Porridge's Rocky Helmet may have saved Bacon's life. Bacon used Arm Thrust to take Archen out, but if Archen didn't take any Rocky Helmet damage and Arm Thrust had only hit two times, Bacon could've been killed.
